The founder and CEO of the McDan Group of Companies, Dr. Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan, has urged young people to model their lives after those they admire.
The business mogul said youths who are yet to figure out their path should seek out individuals living the life they aspire to and learn from their journeys.
In a social media post on Thursday, July 10, McDan noted that young people should not attempt to navigate life alone but rather emulate the values and practices of those they respect.
“One advice I can give you [young people] is this: find people who are living the kind of life you aspire to and learn from them.
“Not just people who are ‘successful’ in a vague sense, but those who have achieved the kind of success you actually want—people who reflect the values you admire and whose lifestyle, mindset, and outcomes align with your vision of the future,” he wrote.
He stressed that it is not about copying someone else’s life but understanding what is possible and crafting one’s own path with wisdom and intention.
“You don’t have to figure it all out alone. Proximity is power. Be bold enough to ask, wise enough to listen, and humble enough to apply what you learn. The right conversation with the right person can change the entire trajectory of your life,” McDan stated.
The entrepreneur observed that the world is full of noise and options, which is why generic advice often falls short.
To him, specific guidance tailored to career goals is more impactful.
“So… if you want to be a creative entrepreneur, go find one and study how they think, how they work, how they recover from failure. If you want to be a world-class engineer, freelancer, or software developer, look for someone who is already walking that road and humbly ask for their counsel,” he said.
