The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Samuel Okolie, in connection with a violent robbery at Millennium City in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
Okolie is accused of attacking a woman at dawn on Thursday, July 10, 2025, and forcibly taking her handbag, which contained an iPhone 16 Pro Max and a purse with an undisclosed sum of money. The incident occurred around 5:30 am.
After the attack, Okolie fled to Ngleshie Amanfro, where a swift, intelligence-driven police operation led to his arrest. During a search, officers recovered the victim’s iPhone 16 Pro Max, which she later identified.
According to a police statement, additional stolen items were retrieved, including one Dell laptop, two itel phones, a Nokia phone, an Alcatel phone, a Vodafone WiFi device, two pairs of AirPods, a gold necklace, three wristwatches, a ladies’ purse, a wallet containing a health insurance card in the name of Kwapong Sahnan, and ten memory cards.
Okolie is currently in custody and assisting with investigations. Police are calling on anyone who may have been a victim of the suspect’s activities to report to the regional command.
The arrest forms part of the command’s broader crackdown on violent crime. Just two days earlier, on July 8, the same police unit secured a 25-year jail sentence with hard labour for another robbery suspect, Mohammed Bello, who was involved in a highway robbery at Gomoa Dabanyin.
These actions, police say, underline their resolve to stamp out robbery and restore safety in the region.
