The Ghana Police Service has apprehended a group of individuals dressed in brown uniforms who were impersonating security personnel near the Awoshie DVLA polling station in the Ablekuma North Constituency.
The suspects, whose identities remain unknown, failed to produce any form of valid identification when confronted by security officers deployed to the area. Their suspicious conduct and inability to properly account for themselves prompted their immediate arrest and transfer to the Odorkor Police Station for interrogation.
The impostors were found loitering near the entrance of the polling centre, raising concerns among election officials and police officers overseeing the parliamentary election re-run.
In an interview, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga West and Dean of MMDCEs in the Greater Accra Region, John Desmond Nii Sowah Nai, confirmed the incident.
He noted that preliminary checks suggest the individuals are not affiliated with any official state security institution.
Police have launched a full-scale investigation to uncover the true identities of the suspects and their intentions.
