Deputy National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah, was beaten by a group at the St. Peter’s Polling Station in Odorkor.

This occurred during the rerun of the 2024 parliamentary election in the Ablekuma North constituency.

The incident on Friday unfolded amid chaos as an unidentified group stormed the polling station, attacking several NPP members, including a party official.

In the footage, an initial scuffle is seen near the gate leading to the polling station.

Mr Asamoah is seen attempting to flee but is punched to the ground.

This is followed by a barrage of kicks and slaps as he is mobbed by the angry group.

The assault forced a brief halt to the voting process and caused panic among voters.

This was just one of multiple instances of violence recorded during today’s polls.

Tensions also escalated at the St. Peter’s Society Methodist Church polling station in Odorkor, part of the Ablekuma North constituency.

The electoral rerun was violently disrupted when a group of unidentified “macho men” stormed the premises in coordinated fashion, arriving in a pickup truck accompanied by multiple motorbikes, forcing panic among voters, electoral personnel and security forces.

Eye‐witnesses report that the assailants overpowered the security detail and launched an assault on several political figures, including former MP and ex‐Fisheries Minister Mavis Hawa Koomson.

Disturbing video footage shows her being forced to the ground and reportedly stomped in the chest and groin area before officers intervened.

Other victims included NPP parliamentary candidate Nana Akua Afriyie and a female party agent, both reportedly injured amid the turmoil.

Later in the morning, a JoyNews journalist was slapped and pushed by a thug.

Meanwhile, former Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has condemned the violent incidents reported during the ongoing parliamentary rerun in Ablekuma North.
