The Western Nzema Youth League (WNYL), a youth group based at Beyin in the Jomoro Municipality of the Western Region, has commended President John Dramani Mahama for nominating Madam Dorcas Affo-Toffey for the Deputy Transport Minister position.

A statement signed by Dr Patrick Ekye Kwesie, Leader of the WNYL, and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said her nomination had been met with widespread approval among the youth in the Nzema community, noting that it was a significant step towards enhancing representation and development in the region.

The statement noted that Madam Affo-Toffey, also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro, is dedicated and committed to the welfare of her constituents and would bring her wealth of experience and organisational skills to her new role.

“The Western Nzema Youth League believes that her appointment will not only benefit the Jomoro Constituency, but will also contribute positively to national interests,” it said.

It expressed optimism that the MP would leverage her position to address pressing transportation issues that affected the Western region, including road infrastructure, public transport systems, and accessibility.

The statement said: “We are particular about having a representative who understands the unique challenges faced by the Nzema people, so we are confident that Affo-Toffey’s leadership will foster collaboration between the government and local stakeholders, ultimately leading to improved transportation networks that are vital for economic growth and development.”

It called on the new Deputy Minister of Transport-designate to prioritise initiatives that would empower the youth and create job opportunities within the transport sector.

“The Western Nzema Youth League extends its best wishes to Dorcas Affo-Toffey in her new role, hoping that she will indeed melt out her organisational skills to add value to national interests.

“We look forward to witnessing the positive impact of her leadership in the transport ministry,” the statement added.
