Minerals Commission CEO, two others cited in alleged $100,000 fraud petition EOCO

A small-scale miner and businessman, Michael Benziecie, has petitioned the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to investigate an alleged case of fraud involving the Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Commission, Mr. Martin Ayisi, and two officials of Adamus Resources Limited.

According to Mr. Benziecie, the Minerals Commission CEO introduced him to Angela List, CEO of Adamus Resources Limited, and Rebecca Donkor, a Board Member of the company.

The two allegedly promised to facilitate his access to a concession under Adamus Resources Limited in exchange for $100,000, which he claims to have fully paid in two installments.

“Initially, I paid 50,000 dollars and added the additional 50,000 to make up for the full amount to the two later on,” Mr. Benziecie confirmed.

Denial, resistance, and hostility
Despite the financial commitment, Mr. Benziecie said he was denied access to the site and met with resistance from personnel working for Adamus.

“The security personnel heckled me when I attempted to enter the concession,” he said, adding that both Angela List and Rebecca Donkor later denied knowledge of any agreement.

Police, Minerals Commission ‘unconcerned’

The miner further alleged that efforts to seek redress at the Takoradi Police and the Minerals Commission were met with apathy.

“The police and the Minerals Commission showed no interest in pursuing the matter,” he claimed.

Call for EOCO probe
Mr. Michael Benziecie is now urging EOCO to investigate the transaction, the conduct of the two women, and the legitimacy of operations at Adamus Resources Limited.

He is also asking for a probe into the company’s security practices and whether its mining activities are legal.

EOCO confirms receipt
At press time, sources at EOCO confirmed receipt of the petition but said the Minerals Commission and Adamus Resources Limited were yet to respond to the allegations.
