NSMQ 2025: T.I. AMASS Salaga knocks out regional favorites Damongo SHS to secure first national championship spot

History was written in the Savannah Region NSMQ qualifier as T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, Salaga qualified for the national championship for the first time, delivering a composed and confident performance to defeat regional favorite Damongo SHS.

In a fiercely contested qualifier, T.I. AMASS, Salaga emerged winners with 33 points, narrowly surpassing Damongo SHS, who finished with 31 points. Buipe SHS managed 10 points, followed by Salaga SHS with 4, Sawla SHS with 3, and Bole SHS with 2.

While Damongo SHS came into the contest as favourites, having represented the Savannah Region at the national championship in 2023 and 2024, their hopes of making another appearance were dashed by the determined team from Salaga.

Damongo SHS has been a formidable force in regional contests. In 2023, they won the Savannah Regional Qualifier convincingly with 41 points.

However, their journey at the nationals that year ended in the preliminary stages. In 2024, they returned but again exited early, losing to debutants Kofi Adjei SHTS after managing just 16 points in their contest.

Against that backdrop, T.I. AMASS Salaga’s victory marks a significant academic power shift in the region’s NSMQ landscape.
