NPP: We’re not broken, we’re fighters and servants of Ghanaians – Justin Frimpong Kodua

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has assured members that the party remains strong, disciplined, and ready to reclaim power in 2028.

Speaking at the party’s National Delegates Conference at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday, July 19, he urged unity and a renewed commitment to party values and national service.

Mr Kodua stressed the importance of discipline in the party’s operations, saying “One area that the party is very, very, very serious about is discipline in our party,” he said.

He reminded members that current officeholders are part of a legacy and must uphold party rules.

“Let us all understand that today we are National Officers of the party. We are Members of Parliament, we are members of the Council of Elders. But people have occupied these positions before,” he said.

Addressing those with ambitions to lead the party, he said, “Any person who has any intention to lead our party must respect the structures of our party.”

Mr Kodua warned against premature campaigning, stating that until nominations are officially opened, no aspirant should begin nationwide tours.

“Until you officially open nominations for aspirants to go round the country to convince and talk to the rank and file of our party, let us continue to deny people from coming to our regions and our constituencies,” he said.

“We must be a disciplined party, and anyone who wants to lead the party must also exhibit discipline.”

The NPP General Secretary then moved to reassure the party faithful of the NPP’s resilience and purpose. “We are not broken, okay? We are not defeated, neither have we lost. We are builders. We are dreamers. We are fighters. We are servants of the Ghanaian people,” he said.

He asked members to reflect on their mission, asking, “What is our purpose? Why do we gather here? Why do we wear the blue, red, and white colours of this party with pride?”

He accused the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of poor governance and said Ghanaians are ready to return to the NPP.

“Ghanaians are looking for alternatives, and Ghanaians want to come back to the NPP,” he said. “Ghanaians know that our government offers the better solutions to their problems.”

Mr Kodua called for an end to internal divisions. “Absence that causes division, brings acrimony, and tension must be relegated,” he urged, saying, “Ghanaians will only vote for an opposition party that is united, responsible, and ready for power.”
