Hassan Ayariga, leader of the All People’s Congress (APC) and former presidential candidate, is facing scrutiny over the source of his crime statistics.

He recently claimed that Nigerians are primarily responsible for various crimes in Ghana, stating, “How many Nigerians are in this country causing trouble? The crime rate in Ghana, particularly armed robbery, is predominantly linked to Nigerians.”

Ayariga claims his data is sourced from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC).

He also alleged that prostitution in Ghana is largely perpetrated by Nigerians.

On July 21, 2025, an X post by @Sikaofficial highlighted Ayariga’s remarks, stating, “Leader of the APC and former presidential aspirant, Hassan Ayariga, on where he got his statistics purporting to show that Nigerians rank highest as perpetrators of various crimes in Ghana.”
