Translight Solar rolls out smart energy tech and flexible payment plans

President of Translight Solar, Kobina Nyanteh, has showcased the company’s cutting-edge proprietary technologies and innovative financing schemes aimed at expanding access to solar energy in Ghana and beyond.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Monday, July 21, Mr Nyanteh explained that Translight Solar is not just a solar panel installer but a full-fledged solar technology company developing unique energy solutions.

“As much as we install solar, we consider ourselves a solar technology company,” he said. “We’ve built a number of solutions, including a monitoring system that remotely oversees all our solar installations independent of the homeowner’s internet. We can tell from our systems if there are issues with your system, even before you notice any change. This is unique to us—it’s a proprietary technology.”

Intelligent Energy Management

Translight’s remote monitoring system forms the backbone of an advanced energy management platform that helps homeowners optimise their energy use, particularly during outages.

“As soon as there’s a power outage, the system can determine how long your battery is likely to last. If it senses the battery won’t last till the next day, it automatically switches off heavy appliances like air conditioners to conserve energy,” Mr Nyanteh explained.

This feature, he said, ensures customers get maximum efficiency and value from their solar installations.

Expanding Solar Access

Over the past 11 years, Translight Solar has installed more than 4,000 systems nationwide, representing a combined capacity of around 10 megawatts. The company now aims to expand further, targeting the deployment of 25,000 additional systems.

To make solar energy more accessible, Translight has introduced Flexipay, a financing initiative that allows customers to make an initial deposit of between 20% and 50%, with the remaining balance spread over 6 to 36 months.

Solar Works in All Weather

Mr Nyanteh also addressed common misconceptions about solar generation in cloudy or rainy conditions. “Solar works with daylight. So as long as there is daylight, even when it’s raining, the solar system continues to generate electricity,” he clarified.

With its focus on innovation, customer-friendly financing, and intelligent energy management, Translight Solar is positioning itself as a leading player in Ghana’s renewable energy landscape.
