Tarkwa-Nsuaem NPP Polling Station Executives expose Mireku Duker’s “use and dump” tactics

A group of polling station executives within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency has issued a scathing rebuke of former Member of Parliament George Mireku Duker, accusing him of orchestrating a campaign of internal sabotage, political violence, and betrayal of party faithfuls who once supported his rise.

Operating under the name Concerned Polling Station Executives, the group held a press conference to denounce what they described as an alarming culture of intimidation and fear associated with Mr. Duker’s leadership. Their grievances were punctuated by a recent audio recording in which three known associates of the former MP allegedly issued death threats against Mr. Richmond Arthur, the constituency’s IT Director.

According to the group, the threats reflect a broader pattern of harassment tied to Mr. Duker’s political machinery. “These young men are being used for violent errands and dumped when things go wrong,” the executives stated. They added that former Constituency Chairman and current MCE Hon. KD Asmah, Madam Anna Ewiah, Mr. Dwomoh, Mr. Isaac Blay, Fiifi Boafo, Nana Kwame Sulley, and numerous polling station executives and financiers have all been subjected to verbal abuse, character assassination, and threats from Mr. Duker’s allies.

Trail of Violence and Denial
The group recounted several violent episodes allegedly linked to the former MP. One such incident involved a failed assassination attempt on Mohammed Awal, known as Apakaloo, during which Duker’s alleged bodyguard, Alhassan (alias Alaa), was killed and others wounded. Despite video evidence reportedly linking Alaa to Duker, the former MP issued a public disclaimer distancing himself from the incident.

They also referenced the death of a party vigilante named Sunday, who allegedly sustained fatal injuries during a botched attack on a party supporter in Senyakrom—again, reportedly on Duker’s orders. “These incidents expose a disturbing pattern: young men are deployed for violent missions and disowned when they get caught or injured,” the group charged.

Diminishing Support and Rejection in Dompim

The executives highlighted what they described as Mr. Duker’s waning political influence, especially in his hometown of Dompim. They attributed his unpopularity to interference in local chieftaincy matters, which allegedly triggered violence and fractured the community. “In both 2020 and 2024, the people of Dompim voted against him decisively,” the group declared.

They cited a leaked audio conversation in which an associate of Mr. Duker is allegedly heard seeking his consent before launching an attack on supporters of rival candidate Fiifi Boafo—evidence they believe confirms his complicity in orchestrating violence.

Allegations of Intimidation and Acid Attack

In one of the most alarming claims, the group alleged that a constituent who publicly criticised Mr. Duker was later the victim of an acid attack. They said such incidents, combined with other threats and harassment, created a climate of fear and silenced dissent during Duker’s tenure.

Citing his poor electoral performance in 2024, particularly in Dompim Pepesa where he reportedly lost multiple polling stations, the group argued that voters have already rejected Mr. Duker’s “authoritarian leadership.”

Call for Unity and Party Renewal
The group praised former MP Gifty Eugenia Kusi for what they called “16 years of peaceful, inclusive leadership,” contrasting it with what they see as Mr. Duker’s divisive and self-serving approach. They also accused him of promoting illegal mining activities that contributed to tensions within the party and the community.

Issuing a final warning, the group addressed social media users aligned with Duker’s camp: “The days of hiding behind fake Facebook accounts to fuel party divisions are over. We are watching, and the party is watching.”

They pledged to rebuild the NPP in Tarkwa-Nsuaem and ensure that unity, discipline, and peace are restored ahead of future contests.
