The Minister for Sports and Recreation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, to foster cooperation in sports development, talent exchange, and training opportunities.

The MoU sets the stage for a vibrant partnership that will see Ghana tap into Serbia’s globally respected expertise in athletics, coaching, basketball, and sports management.

In his address, the Minister for Sports and Recreation. Mr Kofi Adams expressed appreciation for Serbia’s interest and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to strengthening sports diplomacy.

“Ghana has a rich sports tradition, and our management and technical teams are well-positioned to collaborate with Serbia,” he stated.

He encouraged Serbia to use Ghana as a training base, noting Ghana’s readiness and potential to benefit both nations.

“Our doors are open. Ghana is ready to receive Serbian teams and technical delegations. This partnership has great potential to create a lasting impact for both nations. Ghana’s favourable climate and infrastructure make it an ideal location for pre-tournament training camps,” he added.

He highlighted Ghana’s interest in developing basketball, a sport where Serbia’s global prominence can serve as a model.

On his part, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Mr. Marko Duric, emphasised the need to continue solidifying the existing diplomatic relationship, highlighting Serbia’s rich experience in sports development.

He affirmed Serbia’s pride in the traditionally friendly relations and long-standing cooperation between the two countries.

He noted that both Serbia and Ghana are internationally recognized as sporting nations, highlighting that enhanced cooperation in the realm of sports would yield mutual benefits.

“Serbia is strongly committed to deepening engagement with Ghana, a valued friend and reliable partner, across various domains,” he added.

Minister Đurić stated that athletes serve as bridges between nations and act as ambassadors of their countries throughout the world.

He expressed particular satisfaction that Serbia’s most accomplished athletes and sports professionals enjoy recognition in Ghana.
