An alarming incident took place in the Awudome Cemetery area, where a ride-hailing driver narrowly escaped an armed robbery.
According to a post by Sikaofficial on X dated July 28, 2025, the criminals had set up a fake police checkpoint, posing as law enforcement officials to lure unsuspecting drivers.
The driver recounted his harrowing experience, describing the elaborate scheme employed by the robbers to deceive and rob motorists.
“Around 3:00 PM, I was nearly attacked by armed robbers. They threw stones at my car’s windshield, prompting me to exit the vehicle. I quickly maneuvered to turn and drive away to escape. It’s only by God’s grace that I made it out alive,” the driver shared.
This incident raises growing concerns about safety and security in certain areas.
He added, “I caution everyone to be careful when using that stretch of road. They pose as police officers, but they are armed robbers. Stay vigilant.”
He urged that there should be enhanced security measures to protect citizens from such criminal acts, and he encourages the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activities.
