Residents of Abuakwa North have expressed heartfelt appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for appointing Victor Emmanuel Smith as Ghana’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom.

According to Edmund Kwaku Duah, popularly known as Shaker, the Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), President Mahama publicly announced the appointment during his thank-you tour to the Eastern Region.

This ambassadorial appointment is seen as a strong indication of Abuakwa North’s growing relevance in national politics and in President Mahama’s leadership agenda. The constituency has been home to several distinguished personalities, including Daasebre Boamah Darko (Adontenhene and Kukurantumi Hene), Regional NADMO Director Kudjo Adukpo, Abuakwa North NADMO Director Joseph Assah, and now, Ambassador Victor Smith.

Ambassador Smith enjoys widespread admiration in the constituency. Residents refer to him as the “eye of the constituency” and “Godfather of the Municipality.” His commitment to public service, legal expertise, and leadership are widely credited with strengthening the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the municipality. He is described by many as a visionary leader, a humble personality, and a dedicated servant of the people.

The news of his appointment has sparked joy and pride across Abuakwa North. Residents believe the ambassadorial role will open more doors for development and create diplomatic opportunities that can benefit the constituency. They are confident that Ambassador Smith’s experience and influence on the international stage will bring visibility and growth to the area.

In showing their appreciation, residents have pledged their continued support for President Mahama, acknowledging his ongoing efforts to recognise and empower communities like Abuakwa North. Many see the appointment of Victor Smith as a historic milestone, signalling a brighter future for the constituency.
