Hannah Bissiw Is Darn Wrong on Hawa Koomson Assault in Ablekuma-North

Not the least bit surprisingly, in the wake of the brutal assault on the former Akufo-Addo-appointed Minister for Fisheries, Ms. Mavis Hawa Koomson, it is almost exclusively the key operatives of the presently ruling John “Boot-for-Boot” Dramani Mahama-led government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who have been euphorically celebrating the barbaric assault that also witnessed the equally brutal and barbaric assault on the Parliamentary Candidate of the country’s main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ablekuma-North Constituency’s grossly ill-conceived rerun of the criminally inconclusive December 7, 2024 Parliamentary Election, Nana Akua Owusu-Afriyie.

The NDC-instigated assaults and the criminal disruption of the July 11, 2025 Ablekuma-North Constituency Parliamentary-Election Rerun was all to be expected, as had also been the case just last year and other previous byelections in the recent past, such as in Talensi, in the Upper-East Region; Akwatia and Atiwa constituencies, both in the Eastern Region. Now, what was of great concern, however, was the apparent determination by the leadership of the political party whose own presently foremost leader, who also happens to be the “democratically elected” President of the Sovereign Democratic Republic of Ghana, Mr. John “I Have No Classmates in Ghana” Dramani Mahama, has gleefully and smugly described very recently as the most “revolutionarily unmatched” in the political and the strategic application of violent intimidation tactics against its most formidable political opponents, a declaration which was strikingly reflected in the sort of violent hostilities which occurred during the Ablekuma-North Constituency Parliamentary-Election Rerun on Friday, July 11, 2025.

Among the most prominent celebrants of the mayhem fomented by the leadership of the National Democratic Congress in the aforementioned constituency or electoral district, was Dr. Hannah Luisa Bissiw, the Cuban-trained veterinarian – we prefer “Animal Doctor” – who is currently the National Women’s Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (See “Ablekuma North Chaos: Hawah[sic] Koomson Deserves the Assault – Hannah Bissiw” Modernghana.com 7/11/25). It ought to, naturally, come as absolutely no surprise because Dr. Bissiw, as already adumbrated in the foregoing narrative, trained as a Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC)-sponsored “Animal-Doctor,” so she ought to be expected to react to the barbaric assault unleashed by hired goons and thugs from the National Democratic Congress on her political opponents, precisely after the fashion of the basest class of the lower animals for whose healthcare needs Ms. Bissiw had trained in Cuba to cater to right here in Ghana.

We also hereby promptly take this opportunity to profoundly apologize to those professionally trained veterinarians in the country and affiliates of both two major political parties who do not subscribe to the bestial insensitivity and infantile reaction of Dr. Bissiw. As usual, the notoriously foulmouthed critic mendaciously attempts to blame the 2019 Ayawaso-West-Wuogon Constituency By-election violence-wracked mayhem that resulted from the tragic and the untimely passing of the then incumbent New Patriotic Party-sponsored Member of Parliament for the aforementioned electoral district, Mr. Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko, on the leadership of the then Akufo-Addo-led government of the New Patriotic Party.

Dr. Bissiw’s attempt to fault the NPP’s leadership for the Ayawaso-West-Wuogon Constituency By-election violent hostilities is crassly mendacious because even as Dr. Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, the former late President John Evans “Atta-Woyome” Mills-appointed Greater-Accra Mayor publicly testified to the media at the time, the barbarous eruption of violence that punctuated or inflected the Ayawaso-West-Wuogon Constituency By-election was almost singularly and exclusively fomented and led by neighborhood outsiders like the Nigerian-born Mr. Samuel George Nartey – aka Sam George – the much-maligned raucous and rhetorically rancid National Democratic Congress-sponsored Member of Parliament for the Ningo-Prampram Constituency, also in the Greater-Accra Region.

Now, even as the former Tennessee State high school principal painstakingly recounted, the deliberately orchestrated violent chain of events that resulted during the course of the Ayawaso-West-Wuogon 2019 By-election, suddenly occurred while everything seemed to be proceeding peacefully, steadily and smoothfully, that is, until the Ningo-Prampram NDC-MP rode herd on a black-leather jacket-wearing Hell’s Angels lookalike gun-slinging and motorbike-riding gang of approximately two dozen hired party goons and started shooting indiscriminately at heavily packed polling stations, apparently in a bid to scare off voters in this widely known electoral stronghold of the New Patriotic Party. This downright criminal attempt to undermine the credibility and the integrity of Ghana’s Fourth Republican Democratic Culture was not the very first time that the currently Mahama-appointed Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations – whatever the latter world means – has attempted to sabotage and effectively railroad Ghana’s fiercely fought and hard-won democratic cultural dispensation.

Not long after his treasonous attempt to literally scuttle Ghana’s democratic culture, Sam George was also widely reported by the media to have also brazenly and violently attempted to prevent a long-prescheduled National Voter Registration Exercise being conducted by the Jean Adukwei Mensa-Chaired Independent Electoral Commission (I/EC) from taking place at the Escape Hotel in his own Ningo-Prampram Constituency (See “Sam George Secures Injunction to Stop EC Voter Registration Workshop” CitiNews.com 4/24/20). Fortunately, the pathologically and the implacably partisan former Mahama Presidential Staffer – President Mahama once publicly disowned him – was roundly and epically routed in the process.

You see, contrary to what professionally certified liars like Hannah Bissiw would have the rest of us and the global community believe, nearly every incident of election-related violence has been provoked or instigated by the key operatives of the National Democratic Congress. But even more significant, of course, is the fact that absolutely each and every election-related violence that occurred under the watch and tenure of the twice consecutively elected Akufo-Addo-led government of the New Patriotic Party was promptly and thoroughly investigated and a comprehensive report produced and presented to the Akufo-Addo Presidency for redress.

Now, one may not have agreed with the action or inaction taken as a result of the presentation of such trouble-shooting reports. The grim reality here, though, is that absolutely no such case can be made in favor of the previous tandem Mills-Mahama regimes. This is where matters presently stand, and this is what the longsuffering members of the Ghanaian public and, to be certain, the global community at large, needs to fully understand and appreciate about the salient differences in governance approaches between Ghana’s presently ruling National Democratic Congress and the country’s main opposition New Patriotic Party.
