The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II

The Adumasa Dikro, Nana Akuoko Mensah, had to return to his traditional area disappointed as the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, rejected his request for the chief of his area, Adumasahene Nana Amankwaa Kodom Ababio, be removed.

According to opemsuo.com, Nana Mensah invoked the oath for the destooling of the Adumasahene on three different occasions.

He accused his lord of neglect, after helping him ascend the stool. He also accused Nana Kodom Ababio of cutting trees at Baamu and attempting to enstool an individual who had sued the queen mother of the area as Baamuhene.

The Adumasahene denied all the allegations made against him by his Dikro, stating that issues regarding the enstoolment of a chief for the Baamu Stool had been resolved.

At the Kumasi Traditional Council sitting on February 3, 2025, the Asantehene did not only refuse the request of the Dikro to destool the Adumasahene, but also chastised him.

He indicated that the Dikro and his family were the ones who happily brought Nana Amankwaa Kodom Ababio to be enstool as the Adumasahene but he now wants him removed.

The king went on to order Nana Akuoko Mensah to go and submit to his Adumasahene.

“Were you (Nana Akuoko) not the one who brought him (the Adumasahene) to me? You brought him together with your sister, the tall one. You are the one who brought him, but now you are fed up with him.

“As you are standing there, are you not handsome? But your mother said it is your uncle she wants (to be the Adumasahene). He is the one on the stool now; he is not dead for me to give you the stool. Go and serve him and learn to live with him,” the Asantehene said in the Twi dialect.
