Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin has accepted full responsibility for the chaos that broke out during last week’s vetting of ministerial nominees.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on February 4, 2025, the Minority Leader expressed concern about the disruptions which generated public concern about the chaos and destruction of state properties.

The Effutu MP pleaded with Speaker Alban Bagbin to reconsider his decision to suspend four MPs including three of their members. This plea is in contrast to their earlier claim that Bagbin acted with no legal authority.

“Mr Speaker, I take full responsibility as a leader on my side, on all actions that took place. I will therefore conclude by inviting you, Mr Speaker, to in the circumstance and with assurance given, consider a recession of the decision you communicated to the house, as well as all consequential matters there too,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Speaker Alban Bagbin, has rescinded his decision to suspend the four Members of Parliament.

The MPs are Frank Annor Dompreh, Rockson Dafeamekpor, Hassan Tampuli, and Jerry Ahmed Shaib.

Before granting their request, Mr Bagbin said, “As a father, when your son commits an offence, you don’t punish your son to the extent of breaking his leg”  Bagbin said.

” I will proceed to lift the suspension of the four Members of Parliament. The MPs who were affected can now return to the chamber or join sittings…to whom much is given, much is expected,

” he said on the floor of the House on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.
