The halls of Christ the King in Accra buzzed with excitement this past Saturday as young robotics enthusiasts from across Ghana gathered for the highly anticipated Robofest 2025 National Qualifiers, organized by the Ghana Robotics Academy Foundation.

This prestigious event, which determines the country’s representatives for the upcoming Robofest World Championship in Michigan, showcased the remarkable talent, creativity, and innovation within Ghana’s growing robotics community.

Champions Emerge Across Multiple Categories

In the highly competitive Robot Parking Valet competition, Mikrobot Academy’s Team Neo Nexus triumphed in the junior division while Prempeh College’s Team Ana Green took first place in the senior division, narrowly beating.

Team Omen
The BottleSumo category, known for its intense head-to-head battles, was a true test of strategy and innovation. Mikrobot Academy dominated the junior time trials with Team Bot Destroyer, Prime Coders, and Tera Bots taking the top spots. Our Lady of Grace Senior High School’s Team Catalyst claimed victory in the Classic Time Trial, while Prempeh College’s Green Sumo took the win in the Unlimited Time Trial.

In the Unknown Mission Challenge, where participants are tasked with solving problems revealed only on competition day, Team RTD from the Right to Dream Academy claimed victory in the senior division with their exceptional problem-solving skills.

Creative Innovation on Display
This year’s RoboParade, with the theme “Across the Universe – Fact or Fiction,” challenged participants to merge scientific accuracy with creative imagination. Teams presented autonomous robot floats featuring everything from intricate planetary orbit models to imaginative alien habitats. Mikrobot Academy’s “Golden Robots” dazzled the judges with their innovative and visually striking display, clinching first place in the competition.

A Platform for Nurturing Future Innovators

“Robofest is more than just a competition – it’s a platform for nurturing Ghana’s next generation of technology leaders,” remarked Dr. Michael Wilson, Founder & CEO of Mikrobot Academy. “The level of sophistication and creativity we witnessed today speaks volumes about the future of STEM education in our country and the talented minds we are shaping to lead in the global tech community.”

Mikrobot Academy, Prempeh College, and Our Lady of Grace School were among the standout institutions, demonstrating the growing strength and quality of robotics programs across Ghana’s educational institutions. Their achievements are a testament to the commitment to excellence in STEM education and the promising future of innovation in the country.

The Road to Michigan
The winning teams are now preparing to represent Ghana at the Robofest International Championship in Michigan this May. There, they will face off against teams from around the globe, showcasing not only their technical expertise but also Ghana’s rising prominence in the global robotics community.

As these young innovators return to their schools and continue refining their robots for the international stage, one thing is clear: Ghana’s future in technology and innovation is in capable hands.

About Mikrobot Academy
Founded in 2014, Mikrobot Academy has been at the forefront of transforming education through robotics and STEM-focused programs. With a mission to cultivate deep thinkers and innovators, Mikrobot Academy has served over 3000 students across 10 years, both nationally and internationally. The academy offers a hands-on, knowledge-in-action approach, providing students with a solid foundation in robotics, coding, additive manufacturing, 3D printing, and drone technology.

About Robofest
Robofest is an international robotics competition that promotes STEM learning by engaging students in designing, building, and programming robots to solve real-world challenges. Launched in 1999, it features various categories such as robot missions and autonomous vehicle races.

The competition, open to students from elementary through university levels, fosters teamwork, creativity, and technical skills. Robofest offers a global platform for young innovators to showcase their talents, with regional qualifiers leading to the prestigious international championship in Michigan, USA, where participants compete for top honors and global recognition.
