The University of Gold Coast (UGC) is delighted to announce the appointment of Hon. Joseph Osei-Owusu, former First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament for the Bekwai constituency, as a member of its esteemed University Council.

UGC, originally founded as Accra Business School and granted a Presidential Charter on June 20, 2024, stands as a premier Christian university committed to raising Christ-centered leaders who drive innovation, inspire change, and tackle global challenges.

Hon. Osei-Owusu’s remarkable career in public service, governance, and legal expertise reflects a profound dedication to democracy and ethical leadership. His contributions as the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament have left an enduring legacy, and his wealth of experience perfectly aligns with UGC’s mission of transforming lives through education.

The inauguration of the University Council, during which Hon. Osei-Owusu’s appointment will be formalized, is scheduled for February 27, 2025, at the forecourt of the University of Gold Coast campus in Accra. This momentous event will mark another step forward in UGC’s pursuit of excellence as a global leader in transformative education.

Speaking on the appointment, Chancellor of UGC, Bishop Dr. Gideon Titi-Ofei, stated:

“Hon. Joseph Osei-Owusu’s exceptional leadership and commitment to service make him a valuable addition to the University of Gold Coast Council. His insights will be instrumental in steering UGC toward its vision of becoming a beacon of transformative education.”

As a Council member, Hon. Osei-Owusu will play a pivotal role in guiding UGC’s strategic direction, fostering innovation, and ensuring that the institution continues to meet its mission of raising future-ready, Christ-centered leaders.
