You can’t campaign against Mahama’s vision and expect to be maintained as CEO – Former SIC MD told

A political aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Kofi Tonto, has criticised the immediate-past Managing Director of SIC Insurance Company Limited, Hollistar Duah-Yentumi, over reports of her refusal to hand over to the newly-appointed Acting MD, James Agyenim-Boateng, weeks after his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama.

According to the communicator, appointees from the former government are expected to step down from their respective positions following the government transition.

Kofi Tonto argued that individuals who campaign against the new government’s vision cannot expect to be retained in their roles, urging them to step down and make way for new appointees of the NDC-led government to take over.

“You cannot campaign against the vision and ideas of Mahama and expect to be maintained as a CEO. Step down for those who believe in his ideas and vision. It’s that simple,” he posted on his Facebook account on Thursday, February 6, 2025.

His comments come in the wake of reports of an ongoing tussle at SIC Insurance Company Limited.

Earlier, GhanaWeb reported that the former MD did not only refuse to hand over, but also locked the offices of the MD at SIC Insurance Company Limited, where the newly-appointed MD was supposed to operate, and fled with the office keys.

President John Dramani Mahama, on Friday, January 24, 2025, appointed Agyenim-Boateng as the Acting MD of SIC Insurance Company Limited, replacing Duah-Yentumi, who was appointed by the erstwhile NPP administration.

GhanaWeb’s further checks show that on Thursday, January 30, the new acting MD paid an official visit to the headquarters of the company to introduce himself to the management of SIC but the former MD refused to attend the meeting.

In many institutions, such meetings have been used by both the outgoing and the incoming Chief Executive Officers to effect the transition and ensure a smooth handing over of administration.

But the situation at SIC Insurance Company Limited has been remarkably different as the outgone MD has refused to be part of the transition.

She has also failed to present handing over notes, quite apart from locking up the MD’s offices and keeping the keys to herself.
