The Special Committee constituted by Speaker Bagbin to investigate the chaos which erupted during the ministerial vetting has announced a WhatsApp platform to receive information about the incident.
The Committee on Monday, February 3, 2025 at a press briefing urged the media to submit to the committee any video or image evidence of the incident which occurred last Thursday, January 30.
Persons with any information are urged to forward same to the Clerk of the Appointments Committee via the number, 0244926911.
“We have created a digital platform, WhatsApp where we shall receive multimedia evidence including videos, audio and text to facilitate the speedy execution of the Committee’s task.”
Announcing its modalities, the Committee said it will engage in a full-scale investigation of the incident, identify all MPs involved in the chaos and submit the report of its findings to the Speaker.
The Committee has also resolved to a public hearing of its investigation beginning Wednesday, February 5, 2025.
However, permission for an in-camera hearing will be granted to any person who wishes for such option to provide information to the Committee.
“We shall expect members of Parliament, the media and guests who were present at the vetting to voluntarily appear be here to assist the committee with the relevant information,” Chairman of the Committee, Emmanuel Bedzrah stated.
Emmanuel Bedzrah disclosed that the Committee will also employ services of a forensic expert from the Ghana Police Service to aid in its investigation.
“It is our hope that all citizens will stand with the Parliament of Ghana in this trying moments to assist in rebuilding our enviable democratic attributes as we undertake to execute this task.
“We are not here to witch-hunt any of our colleague Members of Parliament,” he added.
