The husband of Linda Agyemang, a nurse from the Kumasi South Hospital, who was burned to death along with her three children on February 8, 2025, at Gyinyase in the Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti Region, has recounted his last moments on a phone call with his family just before their tragic death.

According to Agyemang, in an interview with Oheneba TV on February 10, 205, he works at Bibiani, which is quite far from where his family lives at Gyinyase.

He explained that on the fateful day of the tragic incident, he received a call from his late wife at dawn while at work, just as the fire had started.

He said she was crying for help, with his children also crying out to him, asking to be rescued from the burning building.

“I was at work when my wife called me at dawn around 3:30 am. All I heard on the phone was, ‘Dad we are burning, we are burning to death,’ so, I started shouting asking whether there was no one around to save them,” he said amid tears rolling down his face.

Agyemang, believed to be in his late thirties, continued by saying that subsequent calls he made to his family after receiving news of the fire outbreak went unanswered by his wife.

He added that he immediately boarded a car from Bibiani upon receiving the call, but he arrived too late due to a lack of available vehicles at the time.

When he finally arrived at Gyinyase, he was met with the completely charred remains of his family and the building they had lived in.

“I called back again and there was no response. I came outside to board a car from Bibiani that dawn to Gyinase but there were no available cars due to the time of day. I managed to board a car around 4:30 am after much struggle before getting to Gyinase and by the time I arrived, I had lost everything completely,” he continued inconsolably.

He added, “I had three kids, a girl and two boys. I have no friends because my family were my best friends, especially the youngest one. They are the ones who always welcome me back home when I return from Bibiani. My happiness is gone and I keep seeing my family right in front of me. I can’t even sleep. They were very intelligent that you will always marvel when you see their report cards from school, but now they have all been burnt to death.”

The late Linda Agyemang, 33, met her untimely death along with her three children aged 13, 10, and 3 years respectively when they got trapped inside their three-bedroom house in a fire outbreak.

Despite desperate rescue attempts by neighbors and passersby to rescue them, the intensity of the flames made access to the building impossible.

Firefighters arrived after being alerted and managed to extinguish the blaze, but the victims were found burnt beyond recognition in the bathroom.
