In a heartfelt demonstration of appreciation and goodwill, the Abraham Norman Nortey-led Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) marked this year’s Valentine’s Day by celebrating with market women on campus.
The event, aimed at recognizing and honoring the hardworking women who serve the university community daily, saw the SRC distributing parcels filled with essential items such as rice, cooking oil, drinks, chocolates, and other goodies.
Speaking at the event, SRC President Abraham Norman Nortey expressed his deep appreciation for the contributions of the market women to student life.
“These women are the backbone of our campus economy. They wake up every day to ensure that students have access to food, printing services, and other essential needs. Today, we are here to say thank you and to remind them that their efforts do not go unnoticed,” he said.
The market women, touched by the gesture, expressed their gratitude to the SRC leadership.
One of the beneficiaries shared, “We have been here for years, serving students, and this is one of the rare moments when we feel truly seen and appreciated. This kind act from the SRC gives us joy and motivation to keep doing our work.”
Students who witnessed the celebration also lauded the initiative, emphasizing the importance of such engagements.
“It’s inspiring to see the SRC recognizing the people who make life easier for us on campus. This act of kindness is a true reflection of leadership,” one student remarked.
The event was yet another testament to the inclusive and student-centered leadership of Abraham Norman Nortey and his administration, which continues to prioritize welfare, appreciation, and community engagement.
By extending love beyond students to those who support campus life daily, the UCC SRC has reinforced the spirit of unity, service, and gratitude within the university.
