Some youth in the North East Regional capital, Walewale, have registered their displeasure at the decision to impose a curfew on the region.

The Interior Minister has imposed a curfew on the people in the North East Region. The curfew starts at 6 pm and ends at 6 am.

Also, the possession and use of arms have been banned, and individuals who are seen wielding them will be arrested and prosecuted.

The youth in the region have expressed their displeasure about the said curfew.

In registering their displeasure, the youth in Walewale hit the streets to drum home the injustice as a result of the curfew.

Videos from the region indicate that the official vehicle of the Regional Minister, Ibrahim Tia has been vandalized as a result.

The re-imposition of a curfew on Walewale and its surrounding areas in the North East Region has sparked strong opposition from the Member of Parliament for Walewale, Dr. Mahama Tiah Abdul-Kabiru.

The decision, which follows two incidents allegedly linked to the ongoing Bawku crisis, has been criticized as politically motivated and ineffective in addressing the root causes of insecurity in the region.

Dr. Abdul-Kabiru argues that the move unfairly punishes innocent civilians while failing to implement a comprehensive approach to ensuring peace.

In a statement addressing the curfew, he outlined several concerns, including the lack of consultation with affected constituencies, the selective application of security measures, and the recent acts of military brutality against civilians.
