Concerned Nsawam-Adoagyiri NDC members condemn Annor-Dompreh’s parliamentary conduct

Concerned National Democratic Congress (NDC) members in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency, Eastern Region, have denounced the parliamentary conduct of Frank Annor-Dompreh, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP).

According to them, his alleged call for New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters to physically confront NDC supporters has sparked outrage, contributing to tensions and violence surrounding the December 7 parliamentary elections.

Frank Annoh-Dompreh allegedly directed the disconnection of cables and equipment, including consoles, just as the oath was about to be administered to the nominees.

Speaking to the media, Nana Kwame Okyere, spokesperson for the Concerned NDC members in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency, condemned Frank Annor-Dompreh’s conduct.

“No one in this constituency supports the idea that Annor-Dompreh leads us. We have observed a lot of his shameful conduct in Parliament. For a whole MP, having the ranking member carry a chair and place it in the committee proceedings dents the image of our constituency. No one wants such a leader in this country, that’s why we called for this press conference,” he remarked.

He added, “He should resign as a Member of Parliament immediately. We call on the National Executive Council of the NDC to support our parliamentary candidate here at Nsawam,” urging the NDC Majority Caucus to support their parliamentary candidate, Amenorpe Philbert Fummey, as they challenge the results in court.

Okyere accused Dompreh of inciting violence in Parliament and calling on NPP supporters to physically assault NDC supporters, bringing shame to the constituency.

He reiterated that the constituents of Nsawam-Adoagyiri do not want the incumbent MP, adding that whosoever disagrees with his remarks should join them in the court of law on Tuesday, February 18.

He stressed that Mr. Annor-Dompreh claimed a 210-vote win in the December 7 parliamentary election, citing provisional EC results. However, the NDC rejected these results, leading to chaos and vandalism.

“Those Electoral Commission (EC) officials who had been incited to avert the results are warned,” he said, signaling a stern warning to the Electoral Commissioner.

Okyere continued to call on the entire Majority Caucus to support their parliamentary candidate on February 18 as they challenge the 2024 parliamentary results in court.

“All the NDC National Executives and MPs should join us on the 18th, which is Tuesday. As we challenge the results, we call on you. Failure to pay heed to our call will attract a demonstration,” he warned.
