President John Dramani Mahama in the reset manifesto outlined an ambitious agenda for his first 120 days in office, with 25 key promises aimed at transforming Ghana’s economy, education, healthcare, and governance.

In a move that has been hailed as a practical step towards restoring hope and confidence in the country, President Mahama has pledged to tackle some of Ghana’s most pressing challenges, from economic stagnation to corruption and environmental degradation.

At the heart of President Mahama’s agenda is a commitment to economic transformation. He has promised to nominate a complete list of Cabinet Ministers within 14 days, constitute the leanest and most efficient government under the fourth republic within 90 days, and hold a National Economic Dialogue to discuss the true state of the economy.

President Mahama has also pledged to scrap draconian taxes, including the E-levy, COVID levy, and others, within 90 days, in a bid to alleviate hardships and ease the high cost of doing business.

In the education sector, President Mahama has promised to implement the “No-Academic-Fee” policy for first-year students in public tertiary institutions, commence the distribution of free sanitary pads to female students in primary and secondary schools, and introduce Free Tertiary Education for Persons with Disabilities and the Ghana Medical Care Trust (MahamaCares) Fund.

On governance and anti-corruption, President Mahama has promised to establish a robust Code of Conduct and Standards for all government officials, institute inquiries and forensic audits into matters of public interest, including the collapse of indigenous banks and the National Cathedral scandal, and ban political appointees from purchasing state assets.

Other key initiatives outlined in President Mahama’s agenda include the launch of priority job creation programs, the establishment of an Accelerated Export Development Council to promote exports, and the convening of a national consultative conference on education to build consensus on needed improvements to the sector.

President Mahama’s ambitious agenda has been hailed as a bold step towards restoring hope and confidence in Ghana. As the country embarks on this new journey, all eyes will be on the President and his team to deliver on these promises and transform Ghana for the better.
