The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has revealed the quarterfinals and semifinals draws for the 2024-25 CAF Champions League. The highly anticipated draw took place at the beIN Sports headquarters in Doha, Qatar, on Thursday evening.

South African teams Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Stellenbosch FC were among the teams eagerly awaiting their opponents as they wanted to avoid creating local rivalries at this stage of the competition.

The stage is set for the quarterfinals of the African Champions League, with thrilling matchups on the horizon.

Reigning African Champions League winners Al Ahly of Egypt will continue their title defence against Al Hilal of neighbouring Sudan in the quarter-finals.

The twelve-time champions Al Ahly, who finished runners-up in their group, are determined to become the first club in the competition’s history to win the title three consecutive times.

Meanwhile, Egyptian side Pyramids FC, known for their attacking prowess, will take on Moroccan giants AS FAR. The Egyptian powerhouse scored an impressive 14 goals in the group stage, while AS FAR, under Portuguese coach Alexandre Santos, remained unbeaten.

Four-time champions Esperance, who topped their group and recently won the Tunisian Super Cup, will face South African giant, Mamelodi Sundowns.

The final quarterfinal matchup pits MC Alger against South Africa’s Orlando Pirates. Pirates, the 1995 champions, aim to reach the semifinals for the first time since 2013.

The draw has set up some exciting matchups, with African football powerhouses clashing in the quarterfinals. The stage is now set for some thrilling encounters, with a place in the semifinals up for grabs.

The quarterfinals will be played over two legs, with the first leg on April 1 and the return leg on April 8. The semifinals will follow a similar format, with the winners advancing to the final in June.
