I never believed Mahama would be president again but God can do anything — Annoh Dompreh

Frank Annoh Dompreh, Member of Parliament and Minority Chief Whip says he has now come to understand that God can make anything impossible possible in life.

The MP admitted he never believed President John Dramani Mahama could return to the presidency after his first tenure ended in January 2017.

Speaking in an interview with Bola Ray on Accra-based Starr FM’s Starr Chat, Annoh Dompreh said he has now “eaten humble pie” after President Mahama won the 2024 general elections with a significant margin of 1.7 million votes.

“I never thought President Mahama would come back again. I believed that because, from what I was seeing in the country and the feedback I was getting, people felt that based on his past performance, he wasn’t the person they wanted. But he’s back.

“That’s why I’m saying, never say never. I’ve eaten humble pie because of the margin with which he won. I’ve realized that God can do anything — anything is possible for God,” he said.

Before the elections, Annoh Dompreh had been critical of the former President. In one of his rants, he alleged that even the NDC was fed-up with Mahama.

“It’s amazing and pathetic to even think of contesting for the presidency again. Anyway, your own people want you ‘finished’ sooner. The NDC is merely bearing and enduring your fleeting ‘grace’ period, waiting to take over,” Annoh Dompreh posted on X on April 26, 2024.

He was reacting to a post shared by GHOne TV in which John Dramani Mahama spoke about the type of leader Ghana needs during these challenging times.
