We’re excited to strengthen our partnership with GES – PTA Ghana

The Parent-Teacher Association Ghana (PTA Ghana) has welcomed the decision by the incumbent government to resume the operations of the associations in senior high schools across the country.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) under the erstwhile Akufo-Addo administration limited the influence of PTAs in the school management system through the suspension of PTA levies in 2019, following the introduction of the Free Senior High School policy.

However, Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced the re-integration of the PTA in school management.

In a statement signed by the Administrative Director of the Association, Samuel Otu, the group said it is convinced that the re-introduction will have a positive impact on the affairs of public Senior High Schools.

“As an organization that serves as a bridge between parents, teachers, and school management, the ability to fully resume our operations will enhance our collective effort to support the Free SHS Policy and improve the general quality of education in Ghana,” the statement read.

The PTA-Ghana explained that its role in supporting teachers, school activities, and providing platforms for parents to contribute to the academic and social well-being of students is critical.

The association said it is ready to provide the needed support to improve Ghana’s educational system as it anticipates partnerships with the Ministry of Education and other stakeholders for lasting change.

“With your leadership and the government’s renewed support, we of PTA-GHANA, are excited to strengthen our partnership with the GES, and continue to foster an educational environment where our learners in basic schools and second cycle institutions can thrive,” the statement said.
