Calm restored in Zabzugu after Dagombas and Konkombas clash

Tensions have been restored in the Zabzugu community following a violent clash that erupted between Dagomba hunters and members of the Konkomba community in Kuntumbiyili.

The conflict, which occurred on Thursday, February 20, resulted in several injuries and fatalities, sending shockwaves through the area.

However, thanks to the swift intervention of security forces, further escalation was prevented, restoring relative calm to the troubled community.

According to local sources, the altercation began as a dispute between individuals from the two groups but quickly escalated into a broader confrontation involving multiple members of the Dagomba and Konkomba communities.

Though the exact cause of the conflict is still under investigation, some residents suggest that long-standing tensions over land ownership and hunting rights may have played a role in sparking the violence.

The Regional Security Council, led by the Northern Regional Minister, Ali Adolf, also arrived in the community to assess the situation and engage with local leaders to ensure peace and stability.

The minister met with traditional rulers, opinion leaders, and security commanders to strategise on maintaining order and preventing further clashes.
