Mahama will invest massively in education once the ‘sinkhole’ economy is reset — Haruna Iddrisu

Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has assured that the John Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration plans to invest heavily in education.

The Minister said this can only be done after the economy left behind by the former administration, which he described as a “sinkhole,” has been repaired.

Speaking at the 72nd-anniversary grand durbar of Keta Senior High Technical School in Keta, the Tamale South Member of Parliament further revealed that the current administration plans to introduce digital literacy from kindergarten to tertiary levels.

“The economy President John Mahama is inheriting is a sinkhole economy in distress that needs to be reset and put on track for him to deliver massive infrastructure support to our educational institutions,” he said.

“The President, your President, will introduce digital literacy beginning from kindergarten and extend it to the tertiary level. He will also invest in innovation and technological hubs not only in technical and secondary institutions but also in institutions of higher learning,” he added.

The Minister further underscored President Mahama’s resolve to reward the Volta Region, the NDC’s electoral world bank, for facilitating his massive 2024 election victory.

This reward, Mr. Iddrisu said, will come in the form of general infrastructure development as required by the region.

“Be assured that President John Mahama will honour and reward the people of the Volta Region for standing strong and firm to give him that extraordinary mandate as President of the Republic of Ghana.

“And that will mean President Mahama will upscale investment in the general infrastructure that the region desires,” he remarked.
