The fifth edition of the Bridget Bonnie and Friends Blood Donation took place on Friday, 21st February, at the National Blood Bank, drawing a significant number of donors eager to support the life-saving initiative.

The event, which has gained a reputation for promoting both health awareness and blood donation, saw participants from various backgrounds coming together in the spirit of generosity.

Organisers expressed their gratitude for the continuous support, emphasising the critical role of voluntary blood donors in maintaining an adequate supply for medical emergencies.

In addition to the blood donation drive, the event featured an oral health screening, which provided attendees with valuable insights into their dental well-being.

Qualified dental professionals conducted comprehensive examinations, screening for a range of conditions such as tooth decay, toothaches, gingivitis, periodontitis, and oral thrush.

The initiative aimed to raise awareness of the importance of oral hygiene and encourage individuals to seek early treatment for dental issues before they escalate.

The screening also covered lesser-known but equally significant conditions, including dental nutritional deficiencies, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), orthodontic issues, and restoration problems.

Participants received personalised advice on how to maintain optimal oral health, with recommendations tailored to their specific needs.

The presence of healthcare professionals provided an opportunity for attendees to ask questions and gain a better understanding of the link between oral health and overall well-being.

The success of this year’s edition reinforced the impact of the Bridget Bonnie and Friends Blood Donation initiative, highlighting the importance of community-driven health campaigns.

Organisers pledged to continue expanding the programme to reach more people, with the hope of not only increasing blood donations but also enhancing public health education.

With enthusiastic participation and dedicated volunteers, the event continues to grow as a beacon of hope and service to those in need.
