The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has revealed that a total of 22 individuals were injured during the recent clash between students of Sokode Senior High Technical School and members of the Sokode community in the Ho Municipality.

Speaking on JoyNews’ AM Show on Monday, 24 February, a day after the incident escalated on the school premises, the minister confirmed that “about 22 persons were injured as a result of this incident, and all have been treated at various hospitals and discharged. This includes 19 students, eight girls, and eleven boys, as well as two residents from the community and one journalist.”

Minister Gunu stated that calm had since been restored and “everything is normal now.”

He also confirmed that he had instructed the municipal education directorate to investigate the incident and “provide appropriate recommendations.”
