Kumasi: School bus kills two persons in a gory accident; another critically injured at Patasi

A tragic accident at Patasi in the Ashanti Region has claimed the lives of two individuals and left one person critically injured after a school bus belonging to Palmar International School lost control and crashed into a storey building.

The incident occurred on Monday, April 7, 2025, around 5 p.m. in the Kumasi Metropolis.

The deceased have been identified as Maame Serwaa, 74, and Alfred, believed to be in his late 40s. The injured person, known as Wofa, is currently receiving treatment at the Suntreso Government Hospital.

According to a female tenant of the building, Maame Serwaa had invited Alfred over to assess a plumbing issue in her bathroom. The two were seated at a nearby pub in front of the house, discussing the estimated cost of the repairs when the accident happened.

The driver of the bus reportedly claimed that the brakes failed, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and crash into the building where the victims were seated.

“It took the intervention of the police and personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service to remove them from the trapped areas,” the eyewitness said.

The crash caused extensive damage to property and has left the community in shock.

The deceased have been transported to the morgue, while police have launched an investigation into the incident. The driver of the bus is currently assisting authorities with their inquiries.
