Aide to former Vice President Dr Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has recounted how he almost lost his life at a polling station during the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun.

According him, when the thugs and unidentified men stormed the premises, the policemen, who were to ensure his security and protect voters as well fled for their own safety, leaving him vulnerable.

Miracles Aboagye bemoaned that he had no protection at that critical moment.

Speaking on Joy News’ News File programme and monitored by GhanaWeb, he questioned why President John Dramani Mahama had not made any public comment on the Ablekuma North violence as of Saturday, July 12, 2025.

“The President is yet to put out a single tweet. I could have lost my life yesterday simply because we were going to vote because I have no protection and you know why the NPP would need a protection committee, because the police could not protect me. They ran and left me,” he narrated.

He explained that the NPP protection committee consist of people to ensure that at the time this incident happened, there are about 10 people who were at his disposal to protect his life.

Miracles Aboagye also cautioned Ghanaians, especially members of the National Democratic Congress, to desist from engaging in such acts as anyone could be a victim someday.

“A bullet knows no political colour and in the midst of chaos, nobody is safe. The kind of videos that you are seeing or I saw, you could send your own army and you be a victim because it is chaotic,” he stated.
