Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, a former Government Spokesperson on Governance and Security, has weighed in on the recent clash between former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong and Bono Regional NPP Chairman, Kwame Baffoe Abronye.
The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Thank You Tour on Monday, April 28, took a dramatic turn when the two senior figures engaged in a heated exchange in front of party supporters.
Kwame Baffoe Abronye, while addressing the crowd, appeared to throw a veiled jab at Mr. Agyapong, accusing him of conduct that had harmed the party’s unity.
Visibly angered, Mr. Agyapong hit back, questioning Abronye’s credibility with the sharp retort, “Who born dog?”
He further stated that it was only in politics that “poor people can stand and talk” when he speaks — remarks that further escalated the confrontation.
In a fiery continuation, Mr. Agyapong warned that if the NPP “jokes,” he would “give them a showdown” because “no one is man enough in the NPP more than him.”
Reacting to the incident in a social media post on Tuesday, Dr. Boakye-Danquah — who recently joined Team Kennedy Agyapong — described the rebuke as a move that could mark the end of destructive leadership in the party.
“Hon. Ken Ohene Agyapong’s disciplined rebuke of Abronye, the Sunyani Regional Chairman, marks a decisive end to an era of destructive leadership within the NPP.
“His firm stand against Abronye’s divisive tactics and disrespect signals a call for unity and respect to prevail, closing the chapter on regional leaders who undermine the party’s strength with such reckless vigor,” he wrote.
