Students of Academic City University have successfully organised the institution’s first-ever TEDx event, fostering idea-sharing, insightful discussions, and meaningful connections.

The inaugural TEDx Academic City University event, themed “Ripples to Waves: Creating Impact,” featured student speakers, engaging conversations, and valuable networking opportunities.

A dedicated team of 24 students, led by Edem Fiifi Dawson (Main Lead) and Beata Nhyira Ackun (Co-Lead), spearheaded the event, marking a significant milestone for the university.

This initiative provides a platform for students to exchange ideas, spark innovation, and drive positive change in their communities.

The speaker lineup featured prominent speakers such as Cat Davison, Chief Executive Officer of EduSpot and Global Teacher Prize Finalist, Elinam Abla Horgli, an Entrepreneur and Gender Activist, Eve Asante, Managing Director, Asante and Partners, Eugene Awusi-Annan, Co-Founder, NadeLi Creative and Emmanuel Anti, student of Academic City.

Speaking about the event, Fiifi Edem Dawson, Main Lead of TEDx Academic City University, remarked “This event is just the start of something bigger. We want it to be a lasting platform where new ideas and great thinking can thrive.

“We believe that ideas have the power to create change, and today, we have set things in motion, small ripples that will grow into big waves of impact in our community.”

TED is a non-profit organisation devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. Started as a four-day conference in California 30 years ago, TED has grown to support its mission with multiple initiatives.

TEDx is a programme of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

At a TEDx event, TED Talks videos and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection. Academic City is committed to providing top-quality education, focusing on students, and promoting ethical and sustainable practices.

The university distinguishes itself through a unique model of education that prioritises experiential, contextual, unified, and extensional learning, all while emphasising entrepreneurship.

This approach ensures that graduates are equipped to become ‘Future-Ready Leaders’.
