Zongo and Moshie Chiefs from across the region gathered on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the forecourt of the Moshie Chief of Achiaman’s palace in the Amasaman Municipality to witness the turbanning ceremony of the cabinet members of Naaba Koom Sugri I, the Moshie Chief of Achiaman.

The event brought together prominent traditional leaders, including the Greater Accra Moshie Yadiga Chief, Naaba Ramia, and the Greater Accra Moshie Chief, Naaba Sigiri, underscoring the unity and togetherness between the two Moshie tribes. It also marked the formal enskinment of the Achiaman Moshie Chief, two years after his coronation, in accordance with tradition, highlighting the deep-rooted cultural heritage, love, and unity among the various Zongo communities.

The newly turbanned cabinet members will assist the Chief in governing the Moshie people in the community, ensuring that his vision of promoting the welfare and progress of the people is realized. They have also been tasked with fostering unity, maintaining peace among the Moshie people and other ethnic groups, and working closely with community members to create a safe and harmonious environment for all.

The cabinet positions include Sarkin Samari, Sarkin Yaaki, Sarkin Faada, Magajiya, Galadima, Waziri, Sarkin Dawakai, and Sarkin Kujeira. These appointees will play crucial roles in helping the Chief oversee the affairs of the Moshie people and uphold the traditions and values of the community.

Chairing the occasion, Greater Accra Moshie Yadiga Chief, Naaba Ramia, urged the newly installed cabinet members to uphold their responsibilities with integrity and dedication. He reminded them that their roles extend beyond serving only the Moshie community and encouraged them to extend a helping hand to other tribes in need.

He further advised them to heed the guidance of their Chief and respect each other’s perspectives to ensure unity and cooperation. Emphasizing the hierarchy of traditional leadership, he clarified that while they hold significant positions, they are not Chiefs but cabinet members, whose duty is to support the Chief in advancing development and unity within the community.

Speaking to the media, the Moshie Chief of Achiaman, Naaba Koom Sugri I, called on the newly turbanned cabinet members to serve the people with humility and respect. He urged them to be respectful and submissive to all Chiefs and elders from other tribes while working to uphold and enhance the prestige of the throne.

He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring peace and unity and prioritizing key development initiatives, particularly improving the road network and educational infrastructure within the community. Calling on the government, he appealed for development projects in Achiaman to enhance accessibility and improve the quality of life for residents.
