The chiefs and elders of Asuofuo-Achiase in the Atwima-Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region have performed a ritual to appease the gods of the land following a bizarre incident in which a swarm of bees terrorized residents.

Dozens of residents who were attacked have been hospitalized.

According to OTEC News reporter Maame Akua Asarebea, a student journalist at the OTEC School of Journalism and Communication Studies who visited the community, residents endured bee attacks for over three days.

The situation forced many to remain indoors, severely disrupting their daily lives.

Nana Antwi Adjei III, the Chief of Achiase, revealed during the rituals on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, that they suspect the incident was caused by a transgression against the gods of the land.

This belief arose after a resident burned an ancient Sycamore tree (Achee), which was believed to protect the community.

The destruction of the tree has sparked widespread fear among residents.

Nana Antwi Adjei III assured the community that leaders would continue to perform the necessary rituals to reverse any potential misfortunes and restore peace.
