Achimota School, one of Ghana’s premier educational institutions, celebrated its Founders’ Day on March 8 with a grand durbar.

Achimota School was founded in 1927 by Sir Gordon Guggisberg, the then Governor of the Gold Coast. Dr. James Emman Kwegyir Aggrey and the Rev. Alec Garden Fraser.

The School has a rich history of academic excellence and has produced many notable alumni who have made significant contributions to Ghana and the world.

The Headmaster of Achimota School, Ebenezer Graham Acquaah, expressed gratitude to the OAA 75-year group and 85-year group for their generosity and commitment to giving back to their alma mater.

He advised students to prepare adequately for the upcoming WASSCE exams. ‘The students should sit up and learn and stay away from ‘Apor,’ (leaked examination questions)” he advised.

He also emphasized the need for collective responsibility in instilling discipline among students.

“We all have to get involved in training the children. When we put our hands together, we will be able to do better than we are doing now,” said the Headmaster.

The President of the OAA 75-year group, Dr. Kwame Ampofo, said that the legacy project was a way for the group to show appreciation for the role Achimota School played in their lives.

‘With the training that Achimota school gave to us over the years and with the positive impacts, we are glad to be back,”he noted.
