Dr Rashid-Tanko Computer is the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the NDC Dr Rashid-Tanko Computer is the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the NDC

The Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Tanko Rashid Computer, has refuted allegations that the party, while in opposition, received funds from the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahene, who has been accused of embezzling state resources.

Addressing the matter, Dr Rashid Computer firmly stated that the NDC had no engagements or financial transactions with Kwabena Adu-Boahene and completely dissociates itself from the allegations.

He further asserted that the opposition political party allegedly involved, as referenced by Adu-Boahene, is well aware of its identity, and that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is also fully aware of which party was truly implicated.

“On authority, I’m telling you that the NDC has nothing to do with what came out of that story. When he spoke about opposition, he knew the opposition party he was talking about, and everybody knows it.

“Even those people whom they are referring to helped them in their recent demonstration. You know their partners, that is who he was referring to. Everybody would have seen that, and no right-thinking person would think that our [NDC] arch opponent will give us resources to defeat him in an election. Does it make sense?” he said on JoyNews on Friday, May 9, 2025.

His comments come in response to revelations made by Kwabena Adu-Boahene, who, along with his wife, is at the center of a high-profile corruption scandal involving the alleged diversion of funds meant to enhance Ghana’s cybersecurity infrastructure into their personal accounts.

In a detailed account, Adu-Boahene claimed that an amount of US$500,000 was used in September 2024 to purchase “communications equipment” for an opposition political party.

Some Ghanaians have speculated that the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which was in opposition at the time, is the party referred to by Adu-Boahene in his claim.

However, the NDC has strongly denied any involvement, with Dr Rashid Computer asserting that the party had no dealings with Adu-Boahene and is not connected to the alleged transaction.
