Adwoa Safo to appear before NPP’s Disciplinary Committee on April 7

Former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, is set to appear before the NPP’s Disciplinary Committee on April 7 for allegedly violating a party directive that barred members from making public statements that could create disaffection for the party.

The meeting will take place at 11 am at the Conference room of the party’s Headquarters at Asylum Down in Accra.

In a letter issued on March 24 informing Adwoa Safo of the invitation, the party advised the former MP to present any documentary evidence or witness pertinent to the matter under investigation.

“Furthermore, you are entitled to legal representation during the proceedings should you so require,” the letter stated.

The party said it remains committed to upholding principles of transparency, fairness and due process.

Sarah Adwoa Safo was referred to the NPP’s disciplinary committee on March 20, 2025 for violating a directive barring members from discussing matters that create disaffection within the party in the media.

A statement issued by General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong said that following the directives issued to all members of the New Patriotic Party to cease discussions on matters that create disaffection within the party in the media, Sarah Adwoa Sarfo’s comments in the media, particularly on the Pulse Show of Joy News on March 20 are clear contravention of the directive issued to all NPP members.

“As she is aware, the directive explicitly states that all party members must cease discussing party issues that create unrest, negativism and disaffection in the media and other related platforms. Her actions are not only in disregard of this directive but also undermines the Party’s efforts to rebuild and move forward.

“As a former Member of Parliament, Former Deputy Majority Leader and Former Minister of State under the erstwhile NPP government, she was expected to set a good example and adhere to the principles of discipline, loyalty and unity that have always defined our great party. Her failure to do so, not only reflects poorly on her but also in contravention of Article 3(5) of the Party’s constitution, which, amongst others enjoins us to promote and defend the good name of the Party.

“In breach of the above provision of the Party’s constitution and the directives issued earlier, Hon Sarah Adwoa Sarfo is here by referred to the National Disciplinary Committee of the Party for further action,” Mr Frimpong wrote.

Following the party’s huge defeat in the 2024 elections, Adwao Safo opened up about the alleged maltreatment she endured from her own party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), during her last two years in Parliament.

In an interview with Asempa FM on March 18, 2025, Adwoa Safo disclosed how she was removed as Deputy Majority Leader and subsequently pushed to the backbench, a move she described as an attempt to humiliate her.

The former Dome-Kwabenya MP was on a talking spree lamenting about issues in the party and her internal struggles within the NPP.

Shortly after her media interviews, the party referred her to the Disciplinary Committee.
