Africa has manifestos but no dreams

In the course of independence jumped into democracy. A new black elite took over the reign of n nations with Pan-nism on their lips not knowing the road to achieve the destiny nor the exact meaning of it. Dr. Kwame Nkrumah propagated the slogan: „ When the black man is finally free he can manage his affairs!“ Arab nations and kingdoms, discovered crude oil below the sand of their countries knowing the white man would cheat on them in the course of exploitation forming the powerful united OPEC in Vienna, Austria to create a level negotiation field with the developed countries of the white man. To protect their kingdoms for future generations they dream big and put their dreams into actions and motions for the world to see. Manifestos are not known in Arab countries.

In Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah established SOEs in their hundreds to create jobs, not a future, a dream for Ghana and to come true. Job creation is a technical challenge to let a dream live the motivation for societies to live a happy life and overcome any obstacle along the way. He set up the Silos in Tema which never hosted any cocoa beans and CPC Ltd in Tema to produce chocolates. The Presidents of Mali and Burkina Faso create jobs for thousands but do not let their people dream of a big and brighter future like the Arab Kings do.

Cocoa Processing Company CPC Ltd in Tema, Ghana was founded in 1965 by Joachim Burmeister from Hamburg-Othmarschen, Germany based on the request of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Ghana cocoa in the cocoa industry is regarded as the best cocoa in the world. This industry has Mafia-style structures and „FairTrade“ and other social interventions are at its core a scam to cocoa farmers, consumers, and cocoa-producing countries. In Ghana foreign-produced chocolate from Ghana cocoa can be bought in supermarkets like Game, Malcolm, or Shoprite: foreign companies sell processed Ghana cocoa back to Ghanaians…and no one in politics or Ghanaian society finds it strange and unacceptable. Ideas come for free no formal education and no money needed only interest in the matter and knowledge of it, in business, especially the conditions of the market.

Willy Wonka (with US actor Johnny Depp) lets children and their parents dream the sweet dream of great chocolate and candies. His dream creates an environment needed to make big money and profits beyond imagination. The money in this business currently is in the hands of the white man. Germans consume annually 11 kg, Belgians 6-8 kg, Ghanaians 500 gr, and Chinese 100 gr of chocolate products per head due to tradition but mainly the price of chocolate. White man`s companies create carefully drafted marketing campaigns to sell their products. CPC Ltd produces chocolate products ns do not appreciate but do have not much choice to buy as foreign quality chocolates are less affordable. The best chocolate in the world can only be produced from the best cocoa in the world with the right technology and creativity close to the cocoa plantation. Cocoa is a food item and time and transportation compromise the quality of the beans. The „Highest quality“ chocolate products in Europe are still second-grade products due to the time factor involved. Semi-finished big-block chocolate is the better option compared to raw cocoa beans leaving the profit of the industry in the hands of the white man.

Chocolate is not only a sweet it is a messenger and foremost a lifestyle…the n lifestyle. As the wise saying goes: create a market and your brand in a foreign country before foreigners create a market and brand in your market. Ghanaians seem to overlook this simple truth and have allowed themselves to be subjected to foreigners in this vital industry. Since 1965 CPC Ltd, still a SOE run by party politicians, has never exported chocolate to the white man. Their products are poor in quality, manufacturing style, creativity, and innovation; out of touch with the markets around the world. Coca-Cola and Red Bull demonstrate the need for „dreaming marketing with actions“ using all means of communication. Social Media has become an inexpensive marketing and PR tool to reach consumers globally. CPC Ltd is sleeping in Tema while the world is turning around them faster and faster. To complain about the Big Six in the industry is not credible when no efforts are taken by CPC Ltd and Ghana at large to counter-strike them with creativity and marketing „Make people dream!“ Critical observers wonder why CPC Ltd and Ghana have not raised to the occasion and created a market for Ghana cocoa and chocolate but allowed foreigners to create a market for them. The identity of Ghana is cocoa – not gold. Gold eventually will be exploited and gone but cocoa will live forever. To create dreams for chocolate is life forever, for generations to come. Chocolate is the only product in this world that through itself makes people smile.

Ghana: bring smiles onto the faces of people around the world and let us all dream of your chocolates.
