AGI LAUNCHES 14TH GHANA INDUSTRY AND QUALITY AWARDS

The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has officially unveiled the 14th edition of its prestigious Industry and Quality Awards at a ceremony held at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra.

The launch, themed “Accessing New Markets through Improved Quality Standards to Drive Business Growth and Job Creation,” brought together top industry players, policymakers, and development partners to underscore the critical role of quality in industrial transformation.

Chairperson of the Awards Planning Committee, Dr. Nora Bannerman-Abbott, welcomed guests and highlighted the evolution of the awards into a powerful platform for celebrating excellence in the industrial sector. She stressed the importance of maintaining high quality standards to boost competitiveness, stimulate growth, and fuel employment.

She remarked that the AGI Awards not only recognize excellence but also “promote competitiveness, showcase world-class standards, and champion the industrial spirit of Ghana.”

Representing the Hon. Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Madam Cynthia Dzokoto, Director for SMEs at the Ministry, commended AGI on the choice of theme. She said the focus on standards was “both timely and strategic” as it aligns with the government’s national agenda to overhaul Ghana’s production and trade systems.

She further noted, “Government’s 24-hour economy is intended to achieve inclusive growth by focusing on export competitiveness and value-added production rather than raw commodity dependence.”

In a speech delivered on behalf of the AGI President, Dr. Humphrey Ayim-Darke, past AGI President Dr. Prince Kofi Kludjeson lauded the association for its relentless commitment to recognizing industrial excellence. He urged Ghanaian businesses to put a premium on quality assurance, innovation, and adherence to international standards in order to thrive in the global market.

The launch concluded with a special segment honoring AGI’s long-standing corporate sponsors. Eleven companies received certificates of appreciation for their steadfast support. These included:

Olam Agri Limited, GOIL, Activa International Insurance, GCB Bank Plc, B5 Plus Limited, Ghana Gas Company, Softcare FM Manufacturing Ltd, Ghacem, Latex Foam, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, and Promasidor Ghana Ltd.

Their continued partnership, AGI noted, has been instrumental in the success of the annual awards and the broader push for industrial excellence in Ghana.
