Bernard Ahiafor with some chiefs in one of the communities
The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Akatsi South, Bernard Ahiafor, spent the Easter break engaging with constituents and spearheading development initiatives across the constituency.
Joined by the newly-confirmed Municipal Chief Executive of the Akatsi South Municipality, Dagba Daniel; the constituency Chairman, Anthony Kwadzo Owusu; and other party executives, Ahiafor visited over 36 communities that were celebrating their community development festivals.
He used the opportunity to encourage unity and collaboration among residents to foster the progress of their communities.
One of the key highlights of the tour was his participation in the Purification Rite of the Apetorku Gbodzi at Dagbamate, a community renowned for its deep cultural heritage and rapid development.
Ahiafor commissioned a new vocational training center in the community and also performed a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of hostel facilities to support the center.
In support of local agriculture, the lawmaker also distributed over 800 bags of NPK fertilisers to rice farmers across the constituency.
This move was aimed at turning recent heavy rains — which had caused some destruction — into an opportunity to boost food production, as the rains have also enhanced soil fertility.
Bernard Ahiafor also commissioned a new three-unit classroom block at Adeheta.
The project was funded by West Port Petroleum and is expected to improve access to education in the area.
At Atidzive, a mini durbar was held in his honor to celebrate his recent elevation to the high office of First Deputy Speaker of Parliament.
The event was described as both memorable and deeply thoughtful.
In a message to constituents, Ahiafor remarked, “May the resurrection of Christ be an upliftment in all that we do. May it mark the dawn of a new beginning in our lives and the start of greater achievements ahead. Happy Easter to you all.”
