Riga FC midfielder Ahmed Awua Ankrah stole the show on Matchday 18 of the Latvia Virsliga, scoring twice to lead his team to a crucial 3-1 win over city rivals RFS.

The 23-year-old’s brace earned him Man of the Match honors, inspiring the league leaders to victory in front of a thrilled home crowd.

After RFS took the lead six minutes into the second half, Awua Ankrah responded with a brilliant volley just three minutes later to level the score.

This goal sparked a resurgence for Riga FC, who dominated the remainder of the match. Substitute Marko Regza put the hosts ahead in the 88th minute, and Awua Ankrah sealed the win with a stunning long-range strike in stoppage time.

Awua Ankrah’s impressive display capped an outstanding run of form. The Ghanaian has been a mainstay of the team, starting and playing 90 minutes in 17 of the last 18 league fixtures.

He has also shown his scoring prowess in recent matches, including a goal in a friendly against FC Porto.

The win extends Riga FC’s lead at the top of the table to five points over second-placed RFS, putting them in a strong position to claim the title. Awua Ankrah’s form will undoubtedly be a key factor in Riga FC’s quest for league glory.
