Alan is still a good friend; I left his camp because he left NPP — Catherine Afeku

Former Minister of State at the Office of the President, Catherine Ablema Afeku, has explained her decision to part ways with former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen.

The former Member of Parliament for Evalue-Ajomoro-Gwira was a staunch supporter and a leading figure in Alan’s campaign until he resigned from the NPP to form the Movement for Change.

According to Madam Afeku, Alan’s exit from the party conflicted with her unwavering loyalty to the NPP, and for that reason, she could not follow him.

Speaking on Accra-based JoyNews’ Women Power Politics, she stated that no matter the situation, her allegiance remains with the party.

“Alan Kyerematen is still a good friend, a nice gentleman. But again, like I said, he left the party, and my values are loyalty. So my loyalty is to the party. I have no qualms with Mr Kyerematen. When he was the ambassador in Washington, I was in Atlanta, and we invited him to the festivities I organized.

“So I respect him, but my loyalty is to the New Patriotic Party, and he respects that. I told him about it — that look, I’m not for shifting to the person. I’m for the party. When you’re upfront with people you deal with, they tend to respect you. So that’s my stance. Whether good or bad, I am still in NPP,” she explained.
