Dwumfour was first elected in 2022
Albert Kwabena Dwumfuor has been re-elected as President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA).
According to a report by citinewsroom.com, the elections, which took place on Monday, June 30, 2025, saw him secure a commanding victory with 445 votes (64.49%), overcoming his opponent Charles Yao Mawusi, who garnered 245 votes (35.51%).
More than 800 GJA members were accredited to vote in regional centres across the country
They were to choose not only the president but also five other national executive officers and numerous regional representatives.
In addition to the presidency, key national positions were filled:
Vice President: Rebecca Ekpe of GBC, formerly the Public Affairs Officer, defeated Mary Mensah of the Graphic Communications Group.
Organising Secretary: Suleiman Mustapha (Graphic Communications Group) .
Public Affairs Officer: Zadok Kwame Gyesi secured the role .
A total of 12 candidates contested the six national executive roles, while 49 others vied for regional office positions.
The newly elected executives will serve a three‑year term, and are expected to drive critical reforms and advocacy efforts as the association navigates the evolving media landscape .
