Former Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Alhaji Hudu Mogtari, has sponsored the awards and prizes for the third edition of the Best Brains Contest, organized by the Wa Municipal Education Directorate.

Responding to a request from the organisers, Alhaji Mogtari donated 2,000 branded exercise books, plaques, and a trophy to support the competition.

Speaking on his motivation for the gesture, he stated, “Officials of the Municipal Education Directorate approached me before the elections, seeking support to reward outstanding schools and students. I assured them of my commitment to fostering academic excellence and healthy competition among our young learners. A few months later, I decided to contribute my quota to putting smiles on the faces of our future leaders.”

He further urged stakeholders in the education sector to contribute toward improving education standards in the Upper West Region.

“It is disheartening to witness the alarming decline in educational performance in the region. Instead of merely complaining, we must step up and support initiatives that promote academic excellence and competitiveness. Education has brought me to where I am today, and I am committed to supporting any effort that enhances learning,” he added.

The Wa Municipal Director of Education, Sophia Dimah, expressed profound gratitude to Alhaji Mogtari for his generosity. She highlighted the challenges faced in securing sponsorship for previous editi

ons and expressed hope that the tangible rewards would encourage more schools and students to participate and strive for excellence.

The Best Brains Contest is an initiative of the Wa Municipal Education Directorate, designed to promote academic competition and expose primary and junior high school pupils to intellectual challenges.

Wa Methodist School for the Blind Primary School secured second place, while Huriya Islamic Primary School and St. Paul Methodist Primary School took third and fourth places, respectively.

Additionally, Marifa Muhasina won the award for Best Performing Student, while Mumuni Joan was recognized as the Best Performing Female Student.
