
All is set for the 2025 Ghana-China Business Summit, titled “Synergising Opportunities: Strengthening the Ghana-China Business Relationship and Fostering a 24-Hour Economy,” is scheduled to take place from Monday, June 23 to Friday, June 27.
The event aims to promote economic cooperation, investment, and trade between Ghana and China.
The summit will be attended by top executive officers of Chinese companies and Ghanaian investors, entrepreneurs and business executives to explore business opportunities, foster partnerships, and power Ghana’s strategic position to access the West African market.
A statement issued by the Communication Department of the Ghana-China Business secretariat explained that President John Dramani Mahama will perform the official opening ceremony.
According to the statement, President Mahama will be supported by the Chief of Staff, Mr Julius Debrah; the Chinese Ambassador, H. E. Tong-Defa; Mr Chen Xiaowei, Group Chairman Sino-Africa Group; as well as government officials and technical experts from key sectors of the economy.
Speakers include the Minister for Energy, who wwill speak on the sub-theme “Powering Partnership: Leveraging Ghana-China energy cooperation for sustainable growth”, and the Minister of State in Charge of Special Initiatives, who will speak on the sub-theme “Unlocking Ghana’s Economic Potential: Special Initiatives and Investment Opportunities”.
The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources will speak on the sub-theme: “Unlocking Ghana’s Natural Resources Potential: Opportunities for Investment and Partnership with China”.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Freezones Board will speak on the sub-theme “Unlocking Trade and Investment Opportunities through Ghana’s Free Zones”; the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations will speak on the sub-theme “Harnessing Digital Innovation for Economic Growth: Opportunities for Ghana-China Collaboration”.
The Minister for Roads and Highways will speak on the sub-theme: “Road Infrastructure Development in Ghana: Opportunities for Investment and Partnership with China”.
The Minister for the Interior will speak on the sub-theme: “Enhancing Security and Infrastructure for Investment: Opportunities for Ghana-China Collaboration.”
The Administrator of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) will speak on the sub-theme “Investing in Ghana’s Future: Partnerships for Educational Development”; the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) will speak on the sub-theme “Unlocking Investment Opportunities in Ghana’s Key Sectors”.
The Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources will speak on the sub-theme “Infrastructure Development in Ghana: Opportunities for Investment and Partnership with China”.
The Minister for Finance will speak on the sub-theme “Financing Growth: Strengthening Ghana-China Financial Partnership for Economic Development”. The Managing Director of GCB Bank will speak on the sub-theme “Financing Growth: Leveraging Ghana-China Banking Partnership to Strengthen Business Cooperation”.
The Chief Executive Officer, Petroleum Hub Development Corporation, will speak on the sub-theme “Harnessing Synergies in Energy and Infrastructure: Ghana’s Petroleum Hub as a Catalyst for Ghana-China Economic Cooperation”.
The Minister for Health will speak on the sub-theme: “Harnessing Ghana-China Partnerships for Healthcare Advancement: Opportunities for Investment and Collaboration.”
The Minister for Education will speak on the sub-theme “Empowering Minds: Fostering Ghana-China Educational Partnerships for Human Capital Development”. The CEO of Fidelity Bank Ghana, and Group Executive Chairman, of Tobinco Group of Companies will also speak.
The Minister for Food and Agriculture will speak on the sub-theme “Cultivating Partnership: Enhancing Ghana-China Cooperation in Agriculture for Sustainable Development”.
Meanwhile, Mr Dennis Anderson, Chief Executive Officer of Perfect World Company Limited – Sino Africa Group and the event coordinator, told newsmen in an interview that the summit will provide a platform for businesses to network, share knowledge, and explore investment opportunities.
The Perfect World Company Limited explained that the summit will offer a chance for Ghanaian and Chinese companies to forge partnerships, joint ventures, and collaborations that can drive economic growth and development.
Mr Anderson said the Ghana-China Business Summit has received support from government agencies and institutions, recognising the importance of economic cooperation and investment in driving growth and development.
He said the summit is expected to contribute to Ghana’s economic development by attracting investment, promoting trade, and fostering partnerships between Ghanaian and Chinese businesses.
Mr Anderson stressed that it will also provide a platform for Ghanaian businesses to access the West African market through partnerships with Chinese companies.
He said the Ghana-China Business Summit is expected to be a significant event in the business calendar, bringing together stakeholders from Ghana and China to promote economic cooperation and investment.
Mr Anderson said the summit is set to make a positive impact on Ghana’s economy and offers both countries opportunities to explore and strengthen business relationships, foster partnerships, and leverage Ghana’s strategic position to access the West African market.
“We are going to be exploring ways to promote economic development through partnerships and investments, showcasing innovative technologies and solutions that can drive economic growth, and fostering sustainable development through responsible business practices,” he said.
